As the Easter season hops into full swing, ALDI Australia is introducing a new addition to its Easter lineup, combining food and fashion on the traditional holiday treat. Starting Saturday, 29 March, ALDI shoppers can indulge in a bit of fun under the sun with the launch of the brand’s new GIANT hot cross bun, and to top it off, an exclusive collaboration with the iconic Australian brand Budgy Smuggler.
ALDI has introduced a variety of unique products over the years, and this year, they’re taking the Easter festivities to a whole new level. ALDI’s bakery section is set to feature the largest-ever lineup of hot cross buns, including the debut of a GIANT brioche hot cross bun that’s 633% bigger than the classic fruit hot cross bun. The Giant Brioche Hot Cross Bun weighs 550g and is nearly 20cm in diameter—almost the size of a soccer ball!
Luke Iemma, ALDI Australia’s Buying Director for Bread and Bakery, shares the excitement: ‘We’re always excited to introduce our customers to new additions to our Easter bakery range each year, and we’re sure hot cross bun aficionados will love ALDI’s Giant Brioche Hot Cross Bun this season. Now the only decision left to make is if you plan to share it with your loved ones or eat it all to yourself. No judgement here!’
ALDI is also releasing limited-edition swimwear in collaboration with Budgy Smuggler. The swimwear, designed in a signature ALDI print, allows shoppers to show off their buns of steel with pride. Jimmy Exelby, Head of Partnerships at Budgy Smuggler, says: ‘ALDI does Good Different, we do Good Smuggling, so it’s a no-brainer to combine forces and deliver the hottest buns this Easter. These tasty treats aren’t just good different, they’re perfect for anyone that wants to look (and feel) like a snack.’
The ALDI Bun-gy Smugglers—an ALDI x Budgy Smuggler Limited Edition collection will include the iconic Budgy bottoms and one-piece swimmers, available at Budgy Smuggler stores and, true to ALDI’s reputation, at great low prices. The men’s ALDI Bun-gy Smuggler bottoms will be available for $58.50, and the bun-derful women’s one-piece will be available for $90—that’s 10% off the standard price.
All profits from the swimwear sales will go to ALDI’s national charity partner, Camp Quality, which aims to uplift and bring joy to children affected by cancer.
To promote the new products, ALDI will be giving away 100 pairs of swimwear to its #ALDIcore shoppers before they hit the Budgy Smuggler stores. The competition opens on March 19 via ALDI Australia’s Facebook Group and Instagram and closes on March 23.
