Budget Berry Smoothie

Smoothies are a regular breakfast option in my house. Our Almond and Berry Smoothie is a great recipe that has a bit of protein added to it, which helps with maintaining a more regulated blood-sugar level throughout the day. Use this recipe as a starting point, and add your own choice of fruit, yoghurt, LSA, chia seeds, or whatever you like.

Serves: Two
Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup raw or blanched almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Method

Blend almonds and water in a blender until you form a paste. You may need to add a bit more water; you want it to be more of a liquid than a spread.

Add in the rest of your ingredients, blending until smooth.

Pour into tall glasses and enjoy!
