Another state government is promising to help consumers with energy bills.

The Victorian government already has a program in place that gives eligible households a $250 rebate so long as they visit the Victorian Energy Compare website or engage with an energy affordability service to compare costs.
Now, the NSW government is promising a $250 bonus to households that check if their energy provider is giving them the best deal on their power bills. The pledge has been made ahead of next month’s state election.

Families and individuals who use the Energy Made Easy website to check if their energy company’s rate is competitive will receive a $250 payment they can use towards their energy bills, the NSW government said in a media release.

It said families could save up to $400 if they switched providers through the government comparison website.

The federal government announced late last year that it would spend $1.5 billion on payments to reduce household and small business energy bills from April under a deal with the states to cap the price of coal and gas.

Are you sure you’re talking advantage of all concessions and offers to keep your household bills as low as possible? Do you have any tips for other YourLifeChoices members?
