Australians still believe in the Australian dream of homeownership, saying property is a good investment despite market challenges.

The top reasons cited for property being a good investment include financial security, asset control, and good rental returns.

The Mortgage Choice survey shows prospective buyers facing difficulties finding suitable properties, concerns unsurprisingly led by first home buyers.

There were mixed emotions among buyers with 39% feeling positive, 40% negative, and 21% experiencing both, but an overall optimistic outlook among sellers, with increased auction activity signalling an early start to the Spring selling season.

Do you think the Australian dream of owning a home is dead or do you buy into the results of this survey?
