The latest Roy Morgan ‘Net Trust’ rankings show the top five most trusted brands – all major retailers – are unchanged for a fifth straight quarter. And there should be no prizes for guessing those that have a distinct whiff about them.
The top five? Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings, Aldi and Kmart. Rounding out the top 10 are Myer, Apple, Big W, Australia Post and Toyota.
Those at the other end?
Qantas, once highly trusted, has nosedived, falling 31 places and moving from the ninth most trusted brand in the September quarter to the 40th most trusted brand in the December quarter. Just six months ago, the national carrier was the sixth most trusted brand.
Trust in Optus and Medibank slumped after data breaches. Only Facebook/Meta is now more distrusted than Optus.
Telstra is the third most distrusted brand, followed by Amazon, News Corp, Harvey Norman, Google, AMP, Rio Tinto and Nestle.
Private health insurer Medibank was previously a trusted brand, but is now the 14th most distrusted brand in the country.
What’s your most trusted brand? Do you have any issue with those results?
Before, when business is doing well, I opted to choose the most famous brands, which gives me assurance that the product is really of high quality. However, when my finances are not doing well, as much as possible, I buy products based on the prices and not on the brand anymore. Most of the time, popular brands do have higher standards of quality that makes them more trusted than its counterparts.
