MemberHave you heard the claims that lipstick can fix scratches on car paint? I have, and decided to check out whether it’s true.
Turns out this DIY solution has been circulating for quite some time. The idea is to gently rub lipstick over the scratched surface and then buff it out. This supposedly fills in the scratch, making it less visible or even making it disappear completely.
However, before you rummage through your makeup bag to save some money on cosmetic repairs, it’s important to consider a few factors. First and foremost, lipstick is not designed for car paint repair. It may not offer a long-lasting solution, and could potentially fade or melt in different weather conditions.
The effectiveness of this hack may vary depending on the depth and severity of the scratch. Superficial blemishes or light marks may be easier to conceal with lipstick, but deeper scratches require a professional.
It seems, if you have the right colour, this might work as a temporary fix, but you really should use trained professionals with access to the right tools and materials.
What are your thoughts on this unusual hack? Have you tried it yourself? I’m curious to hear your experiences or any other creative DIY car repair tips you may have come across.

ParticipantYes, I’ve heard about that! Some claim lipstick can temporarily fill in small scratches on car paint because of its waxy texture. While it might help mask minor imperfections in a pinch, it’s not a long-term solution. The oils and pigments in lipstick could even attract dirt or damage the car’s finish over time. For proper repair, touch-up paint or professional detailing would be a better bet. How did your test turn out?
