ParticipantGovernment figures have found business executives are enjoying massive pay raises.
Governance Institute of Australia found CEOs of ASX-listed companies enjoyed an average 14 per pay raise, while managing directors had an 11 per cent bump in pay.Just for the record, in raw money, that means the average fixed renumeration of a CEO at an ASX 200 company rose to $1.37 million, and $1.88 million for managing directors.
And that’s just their base pay. It doesn’t include bonuses and stock options.
In comparison seasonally adjusted wages for ordinary Australians increased by 0.8 per cent for the 2024 March quarter with annual wage growth of 4.1 per cent.
If you want the raw figures on that, the average salary in Australia is $98,000 a year.
There was a huge outcry by the business sector when it was announced the national minimum wage would be increased on July 1 by 3.75 per cent. No such outrage for their own pay increases.
Do you think executives need such big pay raises?

ParticipantThese people need to look after the employees, not their hip pockets. How can they justify their obscene salaries and then jump up and down because their workers get a pittance of a pay rise? It is the same with politicians, they don’t say no to their huge pay rises each year or two.
