ParticipantAhead of the upcoming NSW state election this year, the state Labor party has announced an ambitious proposal should they be elected.
Under Labor’s idea, well-behaved drivers will be able to have a demerit point expunged from their record after just 12 months. Demerit points usually stay on your record for three years.
NSW Labor leader Chris Minns told the Daily Mail the changes are in response to the current NSW government’s decision to remove speed camera warning signs – which led to a major increase in speeding fines.
“It’s time we put safety back at the centre of our road rules, not revenue raising,” he said.
‘Under Labor the rules are simple – drive safely, get a point back.”

ModeratorThis is a proposal that is worth implementing. If it encourages people to drive safely then there will surely be a decline in accidents that occur throughout Australia which will save a lot of lives in the long run.
