ParticipantA British gut health scientist has gone viral on TikTok after revealing what he believes to be the five worst foods for your gut health.
The unnamed scientist, who posts under the handle @mrguthealth, says these are the foods he considers most likely to cause food poisoning.
“I avoid these foods because they’re the ones most likely to cause food poisoning,” he says.
“Food poisoning increases your risk of having long term gut problems such as post infectious IBS.”The five foods on his list were: oysters, packaged salads, undercooked beef burgers, sprouts and sushi that was more than two days old.
The inclusion of packaged salads and sprouts may shock some people, but Mr Gut Health says they’re riskier than seafood.
“Twenty-two per cent of all food poisoning outbreaks in the US in the last decade have been linked to salads. Seafood only account for six per cent of all cases,” he explained.
