ParticipantWhether it’s fruit and veg at the supermarket, your latest power bill or your next insurance renewal notice, the cost of living has been rising at a rapid rate.
Inflation has a particularly nasty effect on pensioners, with Centrelink payments only being indexed twice a year – and often not keeping up.
The latest release of the Retirement Affordability Index shows costs for retirees are rising faster than the headline inflation rate.

ParticipantHi Brad,
I had never realised how much pensioners have been ignored until I became one. With all the price rises over the past few years we have had to sell our cars. Next I am considering ditching our extras Health insurance cover. Living in Perth you would think we would have reasonable power prices, think again. We are lucky that I still have superannuation, but I have paid for it because pay rises in the past were reduced so that companies could pay our super. Our so called labor government(started by Unions to help workers manage) should be ingnored by the unions because they are as bad as all the rest.
