A bakery in northwest Victoria has been awarded two prizes for producing Australia’s best vanilla slice and the best hot cross bun.

The bakery in question is North End Bakehouse in Shepparton, who were awarded the two top prizes at the Baking Association of Australia’s Baking Show on 24 February.

It’s the second time North End’s vanilla slice has got top spot, while it’s the third win for their hot cross bun. But it’s the first time the same bakery has won both prizes.

The bakery boasted about its win on social media.

“This is the first time a bakery has taken both major awards in the same year,” North End Bakehouse shared.

“The little bakery that could. These awards mean so much to us.”
