ParticipantNames you never hear these days are many and numerous. Do you know of a Gary, Wayne or Karen in aged under 40? Probably not. I certainly am the youngest ‘Jan’ I know.
Other names on the ‘out’ are retro 80s and 70s names such as Stacy, Deirdre and even Britney, despite Britney Spears’ ongoing celebrity.
Other names I no longer notice in the school rolls include Alan, Ken, Rodney and Lauren.
According to UK records only one ‘Piers’ was recorded in 2021, and none last year. Probably not an issue in Australia. But they could come back.
Who ever thought all those antique names such as Oliver, Oscar, Scarlett and Arabella would make a return? There are plenty of them out there aged under 25.
Is your name an endangered species?
