The private rental market is just a giant tax dodge and profit spinner for the mostly already wealthy. That is a major factor generating our highly overpriced housing market and homelessness or paying high rent to live in a substandard house.
The landlord class have had it too good for too long.

Landlords will put up rents to pay for the changes, making rental properties even more expensive and possibly pushing more people onto the streets, it has nothing to do with bringing properties up to minimum standards, but more to do with pushing an environmental agenda, it could easily spread to other states, forced compliance to climate control, so some people will be onboard no matter the consequences to others, although the activists will say it’s necessary to bring down global pollution

Agree with Jim- this is nothing more than a push to make all homes compliant with the Climate Change Wokes- Victoria has the largest proportion of these people. Enforcing these requirements will increase the rental costs (owners have to generate sufficient returns to make rental viable) The cost to put in place several of these proposals would take many rentals off the market.(like new electric hot water services – heat pumps cost over $5000 even after State subsidies and the same with air conditioning)

As a Landlord in NSW & Previous in Tasmania I could not warrant the expense of that kind of upgrade. The Tasmania property was sold due to Crappy Tenants & Real Estate Agent. When you do your Tax and see you made $3000.00 for the year it is not worth the headache. If I had an Investment Property in Victoria I would be listing it Straight away. I would not be waiting on their decision. RUN RUN as fast as you can. The Greens, Wokes & Teals are trying to give more rights to the Tenants than the Landlords, SELL NOW. David Ryder your comments are uneducated. Mother & father Investors if they were given more incentive to Invest we would not have the rental crises we have today in all States of Australia. David you sound like a renter that is Self Entitled wants everything for nothing you just might end up in a TENT.
