BMW has issued recalls for vehicles across a number of its SUV models, citing potential faults with the brakes as the reason.
Customers who purchased a BMW iX1, iX2, X1, X2, X5, X6, or X7 SUV between 2022 and 2024 is advised to check BMW’s notice here to see if their vehicle is affected.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, a component of the brake booster system may have been incorrectly welded and could break,” the BMW notice reads.
BMW says if this occurs, a higher pedal force will be required and braking distance may be extended. In addition, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems may not function properly.
Affected drivers should be alerted by the brake warning light in the instrument panel and a message on the central display.
If you own one of the affected vehicles BMW will replace the parts free of charge.
