MemberI have tried this out and believe me it works. No more dirty pots and no more vinegar.
1 Egg
1 glass bowl about 4 1/2″ wide ,or a wide coffee cup 1/2 filled with cold water.
Crack egg into water and put in to Microwave set at 50 seconds. Check egg to see if it’s set or put in again for another 3 seconds.
Water buffers egg so it will not explode.
Drain egg with a slotted spoon on paper towell.
Have a slice of toast ready and add. ENJOY.

ParticipantSounds a good tip, Hola, but one important thing—what size microwave do you have? Some are low wattage others high which will detemine amount of cooking time.

ParticipantBut does this method help with the washing of the cup or glass dish as everyone I do a poached egg in the microwave the dishwasher doesn’t get all the egg off?

MemberI too, would like to know the microwave wattage. Mine is 1,200W on normal and clicks down in increments of 1,00

ParticipantSimilar method is also useful for scrambled eggs. Whisk the egg/s with a dash of water, microwave for about 30 seconds, plus 30 seconds per egg, and viola! Scrambled eggs with no messy measuring out milk, butter, etc. Add your own spices or pepper for varied tastes.

MemberYou don’t need microwave wattage knowledge, just time it with your kitchen timer as soon as you start the microwave. A bit of common sense goes a long way!

MemberNot quite true Sophie, 50 seconds at 1,200W will cook twice as much as 50 seconds at 600W. Common sense ??????????

ParticipantAgree, Vibes, and another thing, too high a heat and you get rubbery eggs.

MemberVibes, of course you are right about the cooking times for different microwave wattages, one of the reasons why I suggested using a timer initially.
Anyhow, I use one of these, with perfect results, saves messing around.
Nordic Ware Microwave egg poacher.
