ParticipantMaybe if the prime minister would forgo the 100 million dollars to fix the road leading to his 4 million dollar mansion a little something could be used to help others. Congratulations to the labor party you have lost a lifelong voter.`s

ParticipantWhat on earth will a 3.70 increase do for anyone. Why bother with it. Wouldn’t buy you a small latte.

ParticipantHello,
I’m new here. I’d like to mention something about pensions and the issue of limiting the amount of income pensioners can earn before any reduction in pension. Personally as a 74 yo and still working part-time I find this law to be unecessarily cruel, uncaring and inhumane to the people and country that the government is elected to serve. If a pensioner wants to work to create a better life for themselves, then why is this such a problem. If they don’t work, the pension is still paid out to them regardless. If they do work, then they are contributing to the economy their work experience, paying more in taxes, spending etc and at the same time having a better life for themselves which after all you only get one go at. Where is the loss to the government. There is none. There is only gain and plenty of it for the entire community and country.i would like to advocate the urgent repealing of these laws to allow all pensioners to be able to work without any limitations. Perhaps I can get support from the senior community to put this to the government. Not sure how to go about this.
Thank you -

ParticipantIf the upcoming rise to pensions is just over the$4 mark that is a total slap in the face that wouldn’t pay for one of my many prescriptions that I need or a loaf of bread or a 2litre milk how is that supposed to help us with the ever increasing cost of living the pensioners are just falling further and further behind the government has no idea of the struggles we go through everyday could say a lot more but you get the gist of it thank you

ParticipantWell hi to everyone, I am a 76 year old pensioner. Sept increase I received was $28, as a single which I thought was great until my rent went up by 30 a fortnight. How crazy is that, so I just ask with the predicted 3.70 we get on 20th march, how the hell does that help us as the rent is due to go up God knows how much this time.
Everything has gone up, but the help we get has gone down.sorry but I think it’s all a load of crap. -

ParticipantWow! It’s amazing how these articles about Social Security rises sound so generous.
As many have said the rise in food costs, insurances, other living costs like petrol etc are extreme and a $4 rise is an absolute joke.
I wonder if the politicians could survive on a Centrelink payment.
How can we challenge them to do it and be in the reality of community members? Seriously.
