ParticipantMotorists have been warned not to expect any relief at the petrol bowser before Christmas.
Petrol is currently sitting at $2-plus a litre at most capital cities. Some of that can be attributed to the school holidays. Usually petrol drops back a bit until the Christmas demand. But motorist should brace themselves for a steady increase instead.
National Roads and Motorists Association spokesperson Peter Khoury told The New Daily there’s no sign of relief in sight.
“Oil-producing nations have made it clear they have no intention of increasing production between now and Christmas,” Khoury said.
“It doesn’t bode well for families heading into Christmas.”
How do you cut down on petrol costs? Do you shop around or just use your car less?
According to The New Daily, oil producers have cut production by a million barrels a day.
