A popular caravan has been urgently recalled over fears a gas burner could spark a ‘serious’ fire.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a recall notice on Friday for all Adria-brand towable caravans built between 2021 and October 2023.

The notice revealed that excess sealant used in refrigerator vents located close to the gas burner in affected caravans could ignite and start a fire within the caravan.

“There is a risk of serious injury from burns and/or property damage if the excess sealant ignites …” the notice stated. “Consumers should stop using the gas burner immediately.”

Owners were further advised to immediately isolate the gas supply to the burner and to contact supplier AMH Products Pty Ltd to arrange for the fridge to be repaired.

It is unclear how many caravans are involved. Affected models were sold by Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and Brisbane Apollo RV Sales, Patto’s RV Centre, Kratzmann Caravan Motorhomes, George Day Caravans and Motorhomes, and SydneyRV.

The Adria caravans are also sold internationally with the website saying they are the “best-selling recreational vehicle brand across Europe”.
