ParticipantThe horrific crash which killed five teenagers in southwest Sydney earlier this month has prompted road safety expert Dr George Rechnitzer to call on the government to make speed-limiting technology mandatory in all new cars sold in Australia.
The technology, known as intelligent speed adaptation (ISA), uses GPS and speed limit databases to keep vehicles moving at the legal speed limit.
“We now have the technology, we have an effective method of controlling speed and we’re in a position to deal with it more effectively,” Dr Rechnitzer told NCA Newswire.
“The car gives you certain signals, that will provide resistance when you push the accelerator, making it harder to increase speed quickly,” Dr Rechnitzer said.
Do you think technology like this should be mandatory in all new cars?

ParticipantThis limiting of speed is OK in some regards but, Overtaking a slower vehicle is where the problem lies. I think a lot more trials are needed before things change.
