The Queensland government has announced rental reforms in a bid to ease cost-of-living increases.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the government is proposing to limit rent increases in Queensland to once a year.

It comes as the state’s rate of homelessness has also increased by 22 per cent in the past four years, which is almost three times the national increase.

The premier has also promised more emergency funding to homeless families.

However there are no plans to limit the amount landlords can increase the rent.

A cynic would say this is because almost all politicians own investment properties, but that would be rude of me, right?

Has your rent increased? Do you think rental increases should be limited or linked to the CPI?
