A fire blanket can be the best way to extinguish a small blaze in the kitchen. So long as it does what it’s meant to do.
Anyone with a fire blanket from Supercheap Auto may have a problem.
The ACCC has issued a recall notice for a Supercheap Auto fire blanket in a red plastic pouch with two black pull handles because it does not meet mandatory safety standards. Safety officials say the blankets may not work as intended. As a result, there’s a risk of serious burns and property damage.
The product was available for purchase nationwide from August 2018 to December 2022.
Supercheap Auto is offering a full refund to anyone who bought the affected fire blanket either in-store or online.
To identify if your fire blanket is part of the recall, check for the following product details: a product code of 562939, a product number of SCA100 and a model number of MF100.
To arrange a refund, contact Supercheap Auto on 1300 175 010 from 7am-7pm (AEDT) week days and from 8am-6pm (AEDT) on Saturdays.
