I love garlic. I love the smell of it when it’s fresh and especially when it’s cooking. Not a huge fan of the smell on my breath afterwards.

But I’ve just found out how to get rid of lingering garlic breath. Well, not me, but researchers at Ohio State University, who reckon whole-milk plain yoghurt effectively counters the sulphur-based compounds in garlic that cause odour.

When raw garlic was added into yoghurt they found it to be 99 per cent effective at neutralising odour-producing garlic compounds.

The study shows Greek yoghurt (with its higher protein content than whole milk plain yoghurt) can work wonders to eliminate unwanted garlic breath. Flavoured yoghurts are said to be effective too, if consumed shortly after enjoying your favourite garlic-rich meals.

Do you have any secret way to get rid of garlic breath?
