Creases and wrinkles (on your clothing) are in fashion, if shows in Paris are anything to go on.
The Guardian reports: “The Row – the immaculate label designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – had creased-cotton pieces that look like bed sheets, while Burberry’s show on Monday featured crinkled slip dresses. Bottega Veneta – the show that has been the hit among the front row this season, partly thanks to a rare catwalk appearance from Kate Moss – included trousers, made from gossamer-light leather, with noticeable creases. It was Prada – a brand that always sets the trends – that really ensured that this is a shift to take notice of. Throughout the collection there were creases and wrinkles in clothes from short shift dresses and midi skirts to grey all-in-ones.”
Prada co-designer Raf Simons said the creases were “gestures of error” designed to replicate “pieces that have had a life”.
I hate ironing so my ‘pieces’ have had a long and ‘fashionable’ life before this! How about you?
No ironing for me!
As soon as washing stops, I take each item out, shake it, fold it and lay it flat, leaving it for an hour or two during which time it ‘irons’ itself.
I use lots of pegs and hang each item on the line quite neatly, over two lines in some cases, so no creases are added.
And when I remove them from the line they are neatly folded or immediately hung on a coat-hanger ready to be put away.
Sounds involved, but only takes a few minutes more than the rough way and saves ironing or looking like something the cat dragged in! 😉
I haven’t ironed anything for years. I don’t buy any clothes that will need ironing. Everything goes into the drier then straight onto coat hangers or gets folded neatly and put away as soon as it comes out of the drier. I am too disabled to hang anything on a clothes line so the drier is essential and it sure as heck makes life a lot easier. Years ago I used to spend at least 1 – 1.5 hours a day ironing everything but no more! Disability has taken away a lot but has also brought a few unexpected benefits lol.
