ParticipantAlmost 9000 Toyota cars sold between 2020-23 over a potentially fatal defect in their suspensions.
A recall has been issued for Toyota Yaris models, both petrol and hybrid, manufactured between 2020-23.
“The front lower suspension arm may develop cracks and corrode when exposed to road snow melting agents,” the recall said.
“This could cause the suspension to collapse and detach from the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of steering control.”
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota in writing and will be asked to make an appointment to have the front lower suspension arm replace free of charge.

ParticipantAs only a very small area in Australia receives any snow and even there, it is unlikely that salt is used on the roads, very, very few Australian owners of the Yaris model need be concerned about one of their front wheels deciding that maybe it’s prefer to go on it’s own way.
If Toyota don’t contact you, relax, enjoy the feeling.
