It’s hard to believe the news the alleged killer of a NSW woman was out on bail.
The charges he was facing were serious and of a violent nature, yet he was simply allowed to walk out of court.
He was not monitored, so despite being banned from his victim’s hometown, simply travelled there without consequence.
Police asked that he be remanded in jail, but were over-ruled by the magistrate.
Imagine their horror and frustration at later having to attend her murder scene.
In my opinion an immediate inquiry into the whole mess needs to be conducted as soon as possible.
Do you think judges and magistrates need to be harder on people charged with violent crimes?
If one family member of judges or magistrates was killed by a current or previous partner they would be very quick to relook at their lenient treatment of violent offenders. Violent offenders should be totally removed from society for life. Women’s lives seem to be of no consequence in Australian society and that needs to be changed. It starts from birth. Mothers must not accept disrespect from their sons. Girls must learn to stand up for themselves. Decent men must watch out for and speak up to disrespectful treatment given to females by their peers. Only then will women be safer than they currently are.
Yes I totally agree with newbriss the judges and magistrates are completley negligent and should be made to listen to the families and friends who have lost loved ones because of too lenient sentances given to offenders.
DV in Australia is a national crisis ( along with crime in general) Unfortunately we have let this situation develop unchecked and did not push back against those who successfully lobbied for looser standards and so called rights of offenders.
Additionally , the judiciary are major contributors to this deterioration along with the likes of The Law Society and other “Snivel Liberations “
The judiciary need to understand that the separation of powers should not be taken for granted and they, like the rest of society must be held accountable for their actions , or lack of.
