ParticipantResidents of New South Wales are moving out of their state at a rate faster than any other Aussie state, Australian Bureau of Statistics figures have revealed.
In the 12 months to December 31, 121,071 moved from NSW to another state and less than 90,000 moved to the state to take their place.
Victoria, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the ACT also recorded falls in net interstate migration, with Victoria seeing a drop of nearly 10,000 and Tasmania only losing 941 people once arrivals were taken into account.
Queensland was the big population winner, with 34,545 moving there in the last year. Western Australia also saw an influx of 10,593 new residents and SA welcomed 670.
Are you considering a move?

ParticipantAnd people will eventually leave Qld because what they were looking for ie space and freedom of movement is disappearing. Only two years ago getting over the border from Northern NSW into Qld was a relief. Now after driving back through over 100km of congested suburban turmoil and road works from Brisbane to the the Gold Coast, reaching Northern NSW is a relief and delight.
Extreme weather, floods, cyclones, box jelly fish, crocs. and cane toads, youth violence out of control, a State that is so reluctant to embrace education that even it’s Premier can’t pronounce her own name.
Queensland, a great place to visit an even better place to return home from and I’m sure that’s what many new arrivals will eventually do.
