ParticipantIt’s Anzac Day tomorrow, which honours our armed forces, but it also means double demerit points in some states.
If you do the wrong thing on the roads you will be pinged double demerit points in NSW and the ACT from midnight 21 April to midnight 25 April. It’s double demerit points for all offences in NSW but some minor infractions will still only attract one point in the ACT.
Western Australia has decided to forgo double demerit points for the Anzac weekend this year, but they will be in place for the King’s Birthday weekend and Christmas.
Queensland does not do double demerit points for public holidays but drivers should be aware the double demerits apply if they are caught doing the same thing wrong in a 12-month period.
Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory do not employ double demerit points for public holidays.
