Do you find it easy to fall asleep? The average time from entering bed to actually falling asleep is between 15 and 20 minutes, but many people report being able to sleep even quicker than that – even in as little as five minutes.

But that could be a sign of underlying health problems, says sleep expert Dr Sophie Bostock. Falling asleep that quickly, she says, could be an indicator that you are sleep deprived, which in turn is a symptom of many conditions.

“If you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, this is very often a sign of sleep deprivation,” she told the Daily Mail.

“If you are falling asleep within five minutes of getting into bed, the chances are actually you could probably benefit from a bit more sleep.

“Anything from 15 to 20 minutes to fall asleep is really normal, but if it’s regularly taking more than half-an-hour you might want to look at your sleep habits.”

How long does it take you to fall asleep at night?
