ParticipantThe Australian Tax Office (ATO) has issued a warning that it’s ramping up action against company directors as it chases $2.5 billion in unpaid taxes from businesses.
Far enough, but also what the hell?Pensioners have to account for every cent of assets and income, yet business somehow rack up $2.5 billion in unpaid taxes? And they seem to get away with it.
It’s been revealed directors who have amassed large assets such as trophy homes and flash boats while not passing on collected taxes are some of the first in the firing line.
What a slap in the face for people who must scrimp and save to pay a power bill. Just a fraction of that money could change their lives.
Yet, it’s always the people on welfare payments who the government targets first. Robodebt is perhaps the most shameful example.
Do you think government should go after businesses before pensioners?

ParticipantFunny isn’t it? The little guys are the ones who pay diligently all their working lives. The big guys find a way to avoid it, yet enjoy the same benefits of government provided services, sometimes getting subsidies (depending on their business).
