There was news this week that the median house price in Sydney has hit $1.6 million.

      That’s simply ridiculous.

What young couple starting out with a HECS debt and maybe wanting to live on one income for a while when babies come along can afford $1.6 million.

Sydney will soon become an enclave of the rich and elite only. And that’s not good. Service industry staff will be priced out of ever buying a home in Sydney.

You need teachers, police officers, waiters and cleaners and all the people with everyday jobs to make a society work.

The housing industry needs a severe shake-up.

What would you do to solve the problem?

      1) Reduce immigration.
      2) Restrict negative gearing to new builds only.
      3) Remove or reduce the capital gains tax concession.
      4) Foreigners not to own Australian real estate.
      5) Train more skilled construction workers.
      6) Build more public housing.
