Actress and singer Lily Allen has revealed her husband has complete control of her mobile phone.

Allen says she only has a simple child’s phone that must be supervised by a ‘parent’ which she has designated as her husband, actor David Harbour.

But it’s not a control thing. Allen has said it’s because she believes smartphones are destroying people’s creativity and becoming a dangerous addiction for the whole of society.

Allen says she thinks they have ‘destroyed us a species’.

Is she right? I look at my internet use and know it’s too much, but it’s too tempting for five minutes with nothing to do to whip out my phone and scroll through a feed.

Instead I could have looked at the scenery or struck up a conversation, but it’s easier just to lean on that small, amazing piece of technology in our pockets.

What do you think, should we be all cutting down on our phone use?
