ParticipantWould you pay $20 for a pie?
Luxe Sydney bakery Lode Pies and Pastries is selling a wagyu and shiitake mushroom pie for $20 and there seems to be no shortages of customers.
I’m no fan of the cheap pie, minced meat and watery gravy in a soggy pastry can stay in the pie warmer forever as far as I’m concerned.
They can’t even call it a pie, Lode describes it as a pithivier Although, it does sound delicious. The pastry is made with French butter and the pie comes with its own pastry ‘chimney’ to pour chicken sauce into. Okay, maybe I would pay $2 bucks for that.
And it must be doing something right, the shop has more than 200 five-star google reviews.
Is $20 too much though?

ParticipantIt would want to be a decent size – like ‘family-size’ not small individual size!
BUT… the ‘French butter’ immediately put me off!
I try to ‘Buy Australian’ as much as possible and believe we have wonderful Aussie-made dairy products here.
SO… in short – NO, thank you!
