About time this LNP rort for their wealthy foreign donors was stopped.
Citizenship should never be for sale.

The site worked. I am not a cannabis user but am glad to see this happening as some people seem to benefit from its use.

Have not been able to post here for two weeks. This is a test to see if the site has been fixed.

Self service checkouts are fine if you only have a few items.
But we usually have a large family shop and I use the serviced checkout where sometimes the operator even packs my bags.
Usually have a friendly chat too so prefer a serviced checkout.
IMO the big increase in shoplifting is due to self checkouts.

I am sure it will change many peoples minds about building a granny flat. A shame it is only in Victoria. Australia is way over regulated in just about everything.

All this nonsense about the date of Australia Day. It does not matter when it is held or even if it is held at all. It’s just another public holiday for most people with zero special significance. It has been held on other dates in the past and could be again.

Vegemite should be cheap to make. It’s almost entirely made from brewery waste (excess yeast) and salt.

in reply to: Do we need to rethink marijuana laws? #1821197

It’s just legalising what already happens in many places. Many of my friends who smoke grow their own marihuana and tobacco because they can’t afford to buy it.
The government is really foolish keeping dope illegal and putting absurdly high taxes on tobacco because both measures breed a thriving black market from which the government gets zero tax revenue.

I never travel at that time of year as the airlines triple their fare cost and the railways which have fixed price fares all year are fully booked out months in advance.

Or it could mean that we can’t afford to buy the commercial stuff anymore so are brewing more of our own.

Correct Trump would be busy cooking up his next big lie to spread around and ways to get his followers to finance it.

There is a minority who disrespects and distrusts nearly everything these days and misinformation on the internet is feeding their paranoia.
Then when enough of them repeat that misinformation it gains some traction as others start wondering if there could be something in it.
IMO society is heading down a rabbit hole.

Trade in the petrol car for an electric one.

I would be happy with all digital transactions for banking as long as ATM’s remain and cash keeps circulating. We need cash for small expenditures such as pocket money for children.

State schools have a uniform and that should be adhered to. If students want to wear some sort of special religious clothing then they should attend a private school AND such private schools should receive NO government funding.
In other words if you want exclusive treatment then pay for it 100%.

Most of that lost 12.4 billion dollars is probably multinationals shifting profits off-shore.

in reply to: Why are petrol prices so high? #1810068

It’s a rort plain and simple and the only thing you can do about it is switch to an electric car.

For starters all essential services should be in public ownership reducing the need to chase profits.
That includes services like electricity, water and some mass public transport.
As to everything else they are free to charge what they like in a free market economy so there is not a lot that governments can do. Competition in a free market is supposed to keep prices down but it often fails to do that.

Etty Bay FNQ is our local beach and one of the most picturesque. Unspoilt by over development and one of the few places where visitors mingle with cassowaries.
