World’s oldest gymnast

Meet Johanna Quass. She’s an inspirational 89-year-old German lady who, according to the Guinness World Records, also happens to be the world’s oldest gymnast.

Johanna is not only the record holder as the world’s oldest gymnast, she’s also won the German Senior Citizen Championships 11 times.

Mrs Quass started gymnastics at an early age and learnt the skill by playing in her local playground. She entered her first competition when she was nine years old. After completing her schooling, she became a physical education teacher and gymnastics coach, eventually training coaches herself. Johanna has even co-authored a book on gymnastics called Gerätturnen

At almost 90 years old, Johanna is an inspiration for physical longevity and healthy living, claiming that her secret is her well-rounded and healthy diet, which includes plenty of green vegetables.

We think her secret is that she’s amazing. And now it’s official.
