2. Choose cookware made from safe, durable materials

When it comes to cookware, the options can be overwhelming, and the marketing claims are confusing. Non-stick pans may contain Pfas or other harmful chemicals, while some ceramic and enamelled cast iron cookware could have traces of lead or other heavy metals. To ensure safety, stick to materials with a long-standing reputation for being non-toxic, such as stainless steel, cast iron, and glass.

For example, a high-quality stainless steel skillet or a carbon steel pan can be excellent for everyday cooking, offering non-stick properties without the risk of chemical exposure. Instead, look for cutting boards made from a single piece of wood, which are less likely to introduce toxins into your food.
