How ‘honest’ would you be?

If you found out that there was no limit to what you could withdraw from your bank account, even though you had no money, would you keep spending?

Well, that’s exactly what NSW man Luke Brett Moore did. When he opened a new account with St George bank he soon realised that there was no limit to what he could spend or withdraw and while clearly an error, he soon racked up a debt of more than $2.1 million.

Initially jailed for fraud, Mr Moore has had his conviction overturned by the NSW Criminal Court of Appeal, which found the initial conviction was a mistake and that there had been no deception.
