Love locks find their purpose

For years lovers had attached their padlocks to the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris and thrown the key in the Seine to profess their undying love for each other. With the bridge buckling under the weight, the padlocks were removed and the bridge design altered to stop it happening again.

But what to do with all the tons of metal removed? Well, they’re being sold off to raise funds to help the many refugees that have flooded Paris. And the locks not sold will be melted down and sold as scrap metal.
