Was Joe Hockey thrown under a bus?

George Brandis is under fire with reports that he directed QC Justin Gleeson not to use an argument in court that could have facilitated a deal between the WA state government and Federal Government to divide up the assets of Alan Bond’s failed Bell Group of companies. However, Senator Brandis has today distanced himself from the controversy, instead putting Joe Hockey firmly in the limelight.

Senator Brandis said he was “not involved in and, at the time they took place, had no knowledge of the discussions between [then treasurer] Mr Hockey and WA ministers” earlier this year.

“Mr Hockey never mentioned them to me,” Senator Brandis said.
