Which Aussie’s always on time?

The results are in, and for fourth months straight, Virgin Australia has held the title of Australia’s most punctual airline.

The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) figures showed Virgin led Australian airlines with an on time departure rate of 91.6 per cent and an on time arrival rate of 89.2 per cent. An on-time flight is defined as one that departs or arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled time.

While Qantas led in terms of on-time stats throughout 2013 and for most of 2014, Virgin has now had the highest on-time percentage of all Australian carriers since November 2014.

Qantas were next in line, with an on-time departure percentage of 91.6 and 88.2 per cent of flights arriving on time. Jetstar followed Qantas, before Tiger, for both departures and arrivals.

In terms of the regional carriers, Virgin Australia also took out the top title, coming in ahead of Rex and Qantaslink.

Do these results surprise you? Will this change with whom you choose to fly?
