Our recipe for Asian Pork Balls only takes minutes to prepare and cook and pork is a great alternative to other meats, and it won’t break the piggy bank either. Serve with stir-fry vegies to up the nutritional value.

Serves: Two

Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 250g pork mince
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sweet chilli sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 1 egg
  • ground pepper to taste

Method
In a small bowl, mix together all of the ingredients. Take a heaped tablespoon of the mixture and shape into a ball using the palms of your hands. Place the ball on a round dinner plate. Repeat with the rest of the mixture, make sure the balls are in a circle on the outer edge of the dinner plate and that they’re not touching. They should not be touching. Microwave the balls on the plate on high for four minutes until almost cooked through. Place the balls in a preheated, oiled fry pan and cook over medium heat for a few minutes until browned on the outside and cooked through the middle.
