In a move that reflects a deep understanding of the evolving needs of Australians, Bunnings Warehouse has taken a significant step forward in inclusivity and accessibility. Catering to the growing demographic of older Australians and individuals living with disabilities, Bunnings has broadened its horizons with an impressive expansion of its assisted living product range.
This innovative collection encompasses over 2,500 products, meticulously curated across 16 essential categories. From bathroom and bedroom safety enhancements to convenient ramps, smart home devices, and practical daily living aids, Bunnings is setting a new standard for home care solutions.
Ryan Baker, Bunnings’ chief operating officer, expressed the company’s commitment to serving the community by filling critical gaps in the market.
‘We understand that living with a disability or as an older Australian can present unique challenges. The Assisted Living range seeks to offer solutions to our customers who are looking to make their homes a space that’s tailored to them,’ he said.
The significance of this initiative cannot be overstated. According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), more than 5.5 million people live with a disability in the country, and over one in six Australians are aged 65 and over. Meanwhile, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) records indicate that 4.3 million people have a disability nationwide, with an expected increase of 500,000 individuals receiving funding in the next five years.
Recognising the substantial market size and the ‘huge potential’ in this ‘growing category,’ Bunnings has strategically positioned itself as a leader in the home care market.
‘In a market that’s often fragmented, the category will provide a one-stop shopping experience for customers looking to upgrade their homes at an affordable price,’ Baker explained.
He also emphasised that the range is not only focused on safety but also style, current trends, and functionality, acknowledging that customers desire a variety of choices when it comes to personalising their homes.
The Assisted Living range is now readily accessible in-store, online, or on the Bunnings Marketplace. In a compassionate nod to practicality, customers who are accessing government support can benefit from proforma invoicing, easing the financial burden and streamlining the purchasing process.
Customers can share proforma tax invoices with third parties before a sale is finalised to secure funding for their next purchase and verify product details and pricing for the transaction.
