Easter is a time of joy, family gatherings, and, of course, indulging in a plethora of chocolate treats. However, as the holiday approaches, many Australians might find themselves wincing at the price tags attached to those shiny, foil-wrapped goodies.
But fear not, budget-conscious chocolate lovers. A Costco shopper has just let us in on a little secret: the warehouse giant is a veritable goldmine for Easter bargains.
Eagle-eyed shopper Emily has done the legwork for us all. In a recent video, she takes us on a virtual tour of a Costco store in Melbourne, showcasing some of the most wallet-friendly Easter deals.
‘The prices on Easter eggs are an absolute steal right now! It’s the perfect time to stock up early and take advantage of these deals,’ she exclaims in her video.
First up, Emily spots a 425-gram Nestle Incredible Smash Egg, brimming with treats like Smarties, Freckles, and Jaffas, all for the sweet price of $19.99. She points out that this is a bargain compared to similar products at other retailers, which can go for as much as $30.00.
But the chocolatey treasures don’t stop there. Emily also highlights the Easter edition of Truffettes de France, featuring two 200-gram chocolate-covered marshmallow chicks nestled in a special Easter tin for $17.99.
For those planning an Easter egg hunt, Emily has uncovered some great finds. A pack of 18 Cadbury Dairy Milk Hollow Hunting Eggs is priced at just $7.99. ‘This is by far the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere, so a really great deal,’ she notes.
When you consider that the same box of Cadbury Easter eggs can cost between $9 and $14 elsewhere, Costco could be your best bet.
Aside from chocolates, Emily also featured the hot cross buns—an Easter staple—in her Costco video. She came across massive value packs of 24 hot cross buns for $11.99, which works out to less than 50 cents per bun. She’s a bit hesitant, though, and reaches out to her followers for advice: ‘Can someone tell me if these hot cross buns are any good? They’re such good value, but I can’t justify buying this many without knowing first.’
The deals continue with a half-kilo bucket of crispy, chocolate speckled Easter eggs for $12.99, a packet of Trolli’s Funny Bunnies for $11.99, and a bulk pack of white chocolate pretzels for $16.98. It’s a veritable feast for the senses and the savings account.
However, it’s important to remember that Costco operates on a membership basis. With memberships ranging from $65 to $130 per year, you’ll need to weigh the cost against the potential savings.
But for those who are already members or considering joining, the Easter savings could very well justify the expense.
So, as you prepare for the upcoming holiday, consider taking a page out of Emily’s book and check out Costco for some egg-cellent deals. And while you’re at it, why not share your own budget-friendly Easter finds with the YourLifeChoices community? We’d love to hear about your savvy shopping successes!
