As the sun sets a little later and the evenings grow warmer, Australians are reaching for a refreshing beverage to toast the end of the day. Enter the spritz—a drink that’s been gaining popularity across the country, with its effervescent charm and a variety of fruity flavours.
Over the past two years, the Google search for ‘spritz’ has surged by 91 per cent, with Limoncello Spritz currently making waves on social media.
Now, ALDI is riding the wave of this trend by introducing an exciting new addition to its beverage lineup: the Frizato Blood Orange Spritz.
The Blood Orange Spritz promises to delight the senses and ‘transport you to sun-drenched afternoons with just one sip of the refreshing, sparkling fizz, with a generous orange splash and zingy finish.’
‘Bubbly spritzes have quickly become the go-to drink for Aussies this summer and it’s no wonder why, thanks to their refreshing and light body and versatility. With the boom of the lemon spritz trend around Australia, we have worked with our partners to look into other refreshment styles, and [are] excited to bring in something new and refreshing,’ says Jason Bowyer, ALDI’s wine expert and buying director.
‘The new Frizato Blood Orange Spritz has arrived at ALDI just in time to send off summer with the ultimate cocktail experience. This Frizato is exceptional value at just $14.99, with hints of citrus and a blood orange zingy finish. There are many ways to enjoy this delightful sip, just like while the sun sets in the evening right before a Sunday dinner. We cannot wait to see what our customers think of this exciting drop!’
Per ALDI’s website, this liquor is available in selected ALDI stores in New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. Due to liquor licensing limitations, liquor is not sold in any Queensland or South Australia ALDI stores.
But what exactly is a spritz, you might ask? Originating from Italy, the spritz is traditionally made with Prosecco, a dash of aperitifs such as Aperol or Campari, and a splash of soda water. It’s served over ice with a slice of citrus and has become synonymous with leisurely afternoons and social gatherings.
The spritz has evolved over time, and now you’ll find a myriad of variations, each with its own unique twist. ALDI’s Blood Orange Spritz is a modern take on this classic, offering a convenient option for those impromptu get-togethers or moments when you want to indulge in a bit of the sweet life without leaving your home.
For our readers over 50, this new offering from ALDI could be a delightful way to explore new flavours and enjoy a classic cocktail with a contemporary edge. It could also be a great conversation starter—imagine sharing this vibrant, citrusy drink with friends and family as you reminisce about past travels or plan future adventures.
Moreover, the Blood Orange Spritz aligns with the growing demand for ready-to-drink cocktails, which have seen a surge in popularity due to their convenience and consistent quality. These pre-mixed drinks make cocktail preparation easier to enjoy a bar-quality beverage at home.
However, as with any alcoholic beverage, it’s important to enjoy the Blood Orange Spritz responsibly.
