Best campsite with a water view

On our 10-month lap of Australia, we stayed at dozens of campsites that boasted million-dollar water views. If I had to pick my favourite, it’d be Coffin Bay National Park, near Port Lincoln, on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula – mainly because we feasted on ridiculously cheap freshly shucked Coffin Bay oysters, bought straight from the farm, every night we were there!

In no particular order, here are 10 more campsites with great water views:

  1. Lincoln National Park, Eyre Peninsula, SA
  1. Alau Beach in Umagico, Cape York, Qld
  1. Loyalty Beach, Cape York, Qld (which has a great beachfront bar perfect for sundowners)
  1. Three Mile on the Ashburton River near Onslow in the Pilbara, WA
  1. Rainbow Cliffs, near Nhulunbuy in Eastern Arnhem Land, NT
  1. Middle Lagoon, Dampier Peninsula, WA
  1. Birthday Waterhole, West Macs, near Alice Springs, NT
  1. Carawine Gorge, Pilbara, WA
  1. Albert River, Burketown, Qld
  1. Murchison River on Wooleen Station, WA
