What Aussie travellers most fear

A survey of more than 1000 Aussie travellers has uncovered their biggest fears when travelling overseas.

When respondents were presented with 11 ‘worse-case scenarios’, such as losing a travel buddy or family member, having goods stolen and missing out on booked accommodation, the number one response was getting sick overseas.

The survey, commissioned by InsureandGo found that 22 per cent of respondents fear falling ill overseas, with losing belongings coming in a close second at 20 per cent.

Twelve per cent said having to come home unexpectedly and running out of money as their biggest fears, and eight per cent said injuring themselves scared them most when travelling.

Getting lost themselves and theft of belongings was chosen by five per cent of respondents, as was losing a family or travel buddy. Being assaulted while travelling was chosen by only four per cent of respondents.
