Qantas’ flight frenzy: Epic travel deals take off

For our adventurous travellers who have been eagerly awaiting the perfect moment to dust off their suitcases and embark on a new journey, the time has come! Qantas, the flag carrier of Australia, has just announced its most significant sale in the past 12 months, offering an incredible 400,000 discounted seats across its vast international network. This is the golden ticket for those looking to explore the world or visit loved ones abroad without breaking the bank.

The sale spans more than 50 routes to 30 destinations, including sought-after locations in Asia, the Americas, the United Kingdom, and the Pacific. Whether you’re dreaming of sipping a cocktail by the beach in Bali, taking a stroll through the historic streets of London, or experiencing the bustling city life of New York, Qantas has you covered with deals that are too good to pass up.

This global sale is already underway and will run until February 10, unless seats sell out sooner. The travel window is impressively wide, stretching from February 5, 2025, to January 15, 2026, giving you plenty of time to plan your ideal getaway. What’s more, the sale includes travel during select school holiday periods, making it easier for families to plan a trip together.

Adding to the excitement, Qantas is also featuring its newest routes in the sale. The Melbourne to Honolulu service is set to take off from May 1, and the Darwin to Singapore route will begin on March 30. These new connections open up even more possibilities for your next holiday destination.

Economy return fares start at a tempting $499, with the sale encompassing checked baggage, complimentary food, and beverages. For Qantas Frequent Flyers, the deals get even sweeter. The discounted seats are available as Classic Plus Flight Rewards, allowing you to make the most of your accumulated points. For example, a Sydney to London return trip in Economy could cost you 99,400 Qantas Points plus $755 in taxes, fees, and carrier charges.

Qantas CEO International, Cam Wallace, highlighted the airline’s commitment to making international travel more accessible, especially after nearly 10 million Australians travelled overseas last financial year. The sale is a response to the high demand and a chance for customers to explore the world with ease and affordability.

For those who prefer to use their Qantas Points, there are some enticing Classic Plus fares available. Imagine flying from Sydney to Bali return in Economy for 43,100 Qantas Points plus $248 in taxes, fees, and carrier charges. Or perhaps a Melbourne to Tokyo (Haneda) return trip in Economy for 66,400 Qantas Points plus $285. And for those looking to visit the City of Angels, a Sydney to Los Angeles return trip in Economy could be yours for 80,600 Qantas Points plus $393.

But Qantas isn’t the only airline tempting travellers with deals. Virgin Australia has also launched a five-day sale featuring fares starting from $439 for short-haul international destinations like Fiji, Vanuatu, Bali, Samoa, and Queenstown.

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has entered the fray announcing its sale on Tuesday, offering round-trip economy fares starting at $1,392 from Sydney to Rome and business class fares from $7,578 for flights from Sydney to Zurich. Other popular destinations include Athens, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, and Madrid. The sale runs until February 7 for travel between March 1 and June 20, 2025.

Travellers can also enhance their journey with a complimentary stopover by selecting from a range of premier hotels for a one- or two-night stay, available exclusively through direct bookings on etihad.com.
