Speeding through the Tokyo night

Japanese filmmaker Hiroshi Kondo is known for his dazzling experimental shorts, which craft otherworldly art from urban landscapes.

Published on Aeon, this stunning video takes you through the Tokyo night, with strobing glimpses into Japanese city life juxtaposed with contrasting notions of togetherness and separation, and darkness and artificial light.

Accompanied by a playful piano score, the film is a three-minute jaunt into the Japanese night and a beautiful, albeit brief escape from lockdown life.

Have you travelled through Tokyo? Would you recommend a Japanese jaunt to our members?
