World’s top 10 airports

Most travellers view airports as a means to an end – somewhere you have to pass through to get to your destination. However, if you’re planning a flight with a long layover, you may be interested in the airports that have made the list of the top 10 in the world.

For the third year running, Singapore’s Changi Airport has taken out the top spot in the World Airport Awards, held by airline consultancy Skytrax. Changi was one of six Asian airports to make the list, with Munich (Germany), Zurich (Switzerland), London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol (Holland) the other four to round out the top 10.

The awards were based on 13.02 million customer nominations and included 500 airports worldwide.

The top 10 airports, in order, are:

  1. Singapore Changi
  2. Incheon International Airport (South Korea)
  3. Munich Airport
  4. Hong Kong International
  5. Tokyo International Haneda
  6. Zurich Airport
  7. Central Japan International
  8. London Heathrow
  9. Amsterdam Schiphol
  10. Beijing Capital
