MemberThank you Axel; here in WA today there were around 634 people that went down with Covid 19 so we shall just have to wait and see the outcome of the tests taken today, as my husbands doctor said everyone will go down with this virus.
It just depends how healthy the body is and if the body has been vaccinated.
Look at the Queen here she is 95 and she has a mild case of it so we are told.
Charles has had it twice and he is in his 70s too.
I have noticed that the WA shops have yet to get stocked up with food stuffs yet, I guess as soon as it is put on the shelves they goodies are being purchased.
But we are no where near as bad as Ukraine is coping with.
I do wish them well and hope everything works out for them soon.

MemberHave not been on the net for 24 hours; husband has now had high blood pressure so I called the ambulance last night, he decided to take their advice and stay home and rest, but could go to hospital if he wanted due to his age, he is 80 in two weeks.
He spoke to the GP on the phone and we had a trip to have the Ovid 19 tests just now, luckily we were able to get appointments this afternoon so we didn’t have to line up in the heat.
Personally I don’t think it is Ovid but some infection in the sinus.
Daughter just contacted me to say little one has been called home with all the rest of the school as one of the kiddies has come back positive on a RAT Test.
She is an occupational therapist and now all her appointments are messed up.
Talk about head aches.

MemberHi Toot.
I am not expert so I can only rely to you with what I have experienced myself.
Up till about Christmas I was daily on :-
Tryzan 1.25 [which you can see is very low]
also
Lorstat 40 [to keep the cholesterol low]
also Aspirin
I have a blood pressure monitor that I record several times a day, mainly because of my intack of Histamines which puts my BL up. This is a new field of science unfortunately for me. I have been tested by the Alogyst and he says I am not only sensative but have an allergy to Histamines. Which works like this, a few weeks ago I was eating strawberries and grapes and wonder why I was getting high blood pressure, found out that they are high in histamines; also I have to keep well away from Bananas as they have a chemical in them that activates the histamines in our bodies. Then the same situatin with Citrus. If I have a lemon or an orange all hell breaks lose and my blood pressure goes crazy.
Now I know these issues I can keep well away from them although it is difficult when I am eating out! If I record high blood pressure here at home and it goes over 130 I will take one of those tablets called Tryzan 1.25 to counteract this issue.
I also have found that when this happens if I drink water it helps also.
What the Allergist has said is sorry Celia but that is all I know, the problem has not been found as yet, so it sits with me to record my blood pressure reading abut six times a day and monitor it in a diary. However, I am getting so used to the feeling I can pretty much know I am having a reaction to food and then I take the reading to see what is happening.
The problem is as I explained to the GP, I do not need to take a Tryzan 1.25 with a low blood pressure reading! For obvious reasons. LOL
So I agreed with my GP that I only take this table daily if my BP is over 130 a day.
I guess this is a bit hard for you to follow.
I think I have mentioned before, about four months ago I had a Nurse call in at 8.20am and she asked who I was? I gave her my particulars and she said but you are walking and talking! I was horrified to hear a trained nurse making these comments, since then it has been stated to me thank goodness that everyone has a different reaction to their Strokes we are not all the same.

MemberThe Audiologist I visit on a regular basis has a Masters in her field and runs her own business, it was an interesting chat today about how my stroke has progressed, like the conversation I had with the Neuroophthalmologist I attend last November, they both agree the issue was the swelling in both the eye and brain. Now that has reduced it hels with my vision and hearing.
I mentioned that some have hinted that I didn’t have a stroke! They were shocked.
Said as much to the GP last October and he said you defiantly had one.
So now my hearing issues are not better, not sure if it is old age or the damage done.

MemberHi Hola and Suze.
Yes this seems to be the same plant, the person that gave me it said it was ‘Queen of the Night’ and yes it has a wonderful scent and only flowers at night, he didn’t say if it was the moonlight though.
I will have to wait till it flowers to see what it looks like it is slow I think, but it seems to enjoy the position with the orchid plants under the pergola.
Now can you ladies please tell me where on earth this Thread is located?

MemberBeen to the Cardiologist for a check up, had to have the implant checked too.
Not a fan of going to the doctors, this is an on going thing from the Hospital and they want to work out why and how the stroke happened. The implant is meant to record any erratic heart beats.
Today I get my hearing checked, all this because of the stroke.
I wonder how many people are in the same boat as I am this Thread was started for them to follow up on things like this I just wished that others with similar health issues would join in!

RnR tried to find it but even she couldn’t.

MemberDoes anyone grow in their garden The Queen of the Night please?
I was given one about five months ago and it seems to love the area I put it in next to the orchids and it has taken off and it looks if it may be coming into flower, I don’t know what colour it will be I didn’t ask! But I think at the rate it is growing I may need a larger pot.
Any one have some tips on how to car for them please?

MemberWA freight ‘backlog’ as Trans-Australian Railway link restoredMichael RamseyPerthNowFebruary 15, 2022 3:24PM TOPICSShoppingLifestyle
Supermarket shelves are unlikely to be fully restocked in Western Australia for up to six weeks despite the restoration of freight routes.
Flood repairs have been completed across a 300 kilometre section of the Trans-Australian Railway after the network ground to a halt for more than three weeks.
The rail line is the key freight link between WA and the eastern states, providing supplies to the major supermarket chains and many other businesses.
Last month’s one-in-200-year weather event led both Coles and Woolworths to impose temporary purchase limits for WA customers on a range of goods including pasta, rice, flour and sugar.
Transport Minister Rita Saffioti says it will take some time to address the significant freight backlog.
“We expect another four to six weeks until all the lines are available in the stores, as a result of trying to clear the backlog from over east and also making sure the distribution centres are full again,” she told reporters on Tuesday.
Ms Saffioti said 55 triple-road trains had brought essential goods across the Nullarbor during the outage.

They are usually banned for safety reasons between WA and SA but have been temporarily allowed during the rail freight disruptions.
A “land bridge” was utilised by 32 trucks, allowing goods to be moved by rail from the eastern states, via trucks through SA and then rail again between Kalgoorlie and Perth.
Some retailers have meanwhile contracted shipping lines to bring in containers of food, with the first ship due to arrive in Fremantle next week.
Ms Saffioti said there was a recognition at a national level that shipping should play a greater role in shoring up supply chains and that roads needed to be upgraded.
She also called for greater floodproofing of the rail network to prevent such disruption in the future.
“Eighty per cent of what is on our shelves relies upon that train line. So we really need to make sure that we can improve that resilience going forward,” she said.

MemberI have a super cleaning lady that helps me in our home; she is a wonderful person her name is Mary and I really enjoy chatting to her.
She is not born in Australia and she has five kiddies, the oldest is 16 and I asked what he wants to be? Mary said he wants to be an electrician and goes once a week to work, his siblings are still at school and one girl is tall and plays basketball.
It is really great chatting away with her and learning about her culture and life before she came to Oz.
She was born in Northern Sudan and went to Egypt as a 14 year old with her family before coming over here to WA.
I asked her today do you think Australians are spoilt?
Oh yes she said! I agree with her, she wants to save up and take her family back for a holiday to South Sudan too.
I asked what her biggest problem has been since arriving in Australia?
Her reply put a tear in my eyes, she said my colour!
How sad, fancy telling a book by its cover. She is very tall and very black but has a heart of gold and cleans our home very well, she said she learnt to house clean in Cairo as a 14 year old. I am thinking how many 14 year olds do I know here in Australia that will go out and learn how to house clean? Not many I guess.
I could spend an hour and sit down and chat with Mary she is so interesting.
One thing she also has commented on and that is the lack of respect in Australia for Seniors!
